A glimpse of Camp Fuller from the 1940’s

Photos of Gordon Goodman shared by family

As the Archive Project continues its mission to record and preserve the rich history of Camp Fuller, we are always grateful when someone happens to stumble upon our website and connect with us by sending stories, photos and memories.

We recently received this email from Shelli Kastin whose step-father Gordon Goodman, attended Camp Fuller in 1944.  She shared these photos of nine-year old Gordon during his summer at Fuller.

Hello Rick,

Thank you for your reply.

My step-father Gordon Goodman (1935-2015) attended Camp Fuller in 1944, according to the date written on the back of several of the attached photos.  He was from Providence and would have been age nine in 1944.

In addition to photos of Gordon, there are two photos in front of a tent with Junior Group Counselor Norman Baker.

And one photo of Gordon with Russell Annis, Director of Senior Boys and “Skippy”, Instructor of Swimming.

I’m afraid that’s all the information that I have.  The above names were written on the back of the photos.  I only came across the photos after my mom passed a few years ago. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about Gordon’s camp experience, although he looks like he’s having a wonderful time.

I was recently looking through the photos again and I wondered if I could find out any information about the camp, which is how I came across your website.  As a retired librarian, I appreciate that you’ve set up an archive for gathering photos, memories, etc.  Good luck with this project!

Regards,

Shelli Kastin
